What is the process we follow after you request a Title 24 report from us?

    1. Once you submit the details via our Order a Title 24 report page, you will immediately receive an email from projects@gettitle24.com confirming receipt.
    1. We will start working on the Title 24 compliance calculations for your building design asap and drop you another email from projects@gettitle24.com. This is the email thread on which we will share all project specific communication like questions and draft specifications.
    1. The Title 24 compliance calculations could take 1 working day for most Residential projects. On larger and more complex projects it could take longer. During the compliance calculations, we create a detailed computer model of your project on California State certified energy software and run multiple simulations on your building design. This is required since almost all projects don’t comply as is and almost always require some or the other upgrades to comply. The energy code allows for tradeoffs between the different parts of the building design and hence running multiple simulations with each possible upgrade combination is important. It helps come up with the most cost effective and practical set of specifications that your project needs to comply with the California Title 24 energy standards.
    1. Once we are done with the calculations and exploring all possible upgrades, we send over a set of draft specifications to you which seem the most optimum to us. Those would be a set of building specifications that your project requires in order to comply with the Title 24 Energy Code, per our calculations. These specs would include the insulation values, window performance ratings, HVAC and Water Heater efficiency requirements, additional HERS measures, etc. It would essentially be a readable summary of your Title 24 report and give you an idea of what building specifications you would need to meet during construction in order to comply with the Title 24 energy standards.
    1. On receiving the draft specifications, it is important that you review them and let us know if you would like us to make any changes, corrections or retry compliance using alternate upgrades. As mentioned above, the code allows us to make tradeoffs between the different components of the building design as we use a performance approach to meet compliance.
      For example, you can choose to go without insulation in the rafters for an attic roof and instead opt for a high efficiency Water Heater.
      Or you can install a Whole house fan and reduce the performance requirements on the new windows slightly.
      Or you could install a ductless mini-split system with additional credits and eliminate the QII HERs verification.
      The possibilities are several and we can work along with you to adjust the draft specifications within the constraints of the energy code. Hence your review, comments and final go ahead is very important to move to the next step.
    1. Once the draft specifications look alright, please give us a go ahead so we can move to the final step which is generating and registering the final Title 24 report.
    1. Once we receive your go ahead on the draft specifications, we proceed with the generation and registration of the Title 24 report. During this step, we sign off as the Documentation Author on the report. We are a Certified Energy Analyst for the Title 24 energy standards. 
    1. Besides our sign off, we also require the digital sign off of the responsible person (which can be the Architect, Designer, Builder or Homeowner-Builder) per the energy code. For the sign off, an email is sent to the email id of the responsible person via cheers.org. The responsible person simply needs to press the sign button in the email to complete the sign off.     1. Once the report is signed off, we compile the reports onto 8×11 as well as Plan Size PDFs (24×36 or 30×42) and send them to your email. These Title 24 report PDFs are certified, registered, water marked and all ready to be submitted to the city. Please add them to your plans and update the sheet index before submitting to the city. 
  1. After you receive and submit the report, we are always available for any assistance and take up any revisions or corrections throughout the project. We do not charge for any plan check corrections and generally turn around plan checks in 1 to 2 working days. Your long term satisfaction and successful project completion is our utmost priority!
