Please see below some of the most frequently asked questions about our services.

What is a Title 24 report? Why do you need one?

A Title 24 energy report is a certification that confirms that your project’s design complies with the California energy standards (also called Title 24 energy standards). The Title 24 energy standards are a set of rules and requirements that govern the energy efficient construction of residential and commercial projects in California. All new constructions or remodels or small alterations are required to meet these standards and hence all building departments in California will require you to submit a Title 24 report (also called CF1R) as a part of your plans for permit application.

Where and how can you get a Title 24 report?

You can work with a Title 24 consultant, such as us, to ensure your project complies with the California Title 24 energy code. We run a thorough simulation of your project on California state-approved energy compliance software, to check compliance with the Title 24 energy code. We then suggest the optimum requirements that you need (in terms of insulation levels, HVAC efficiency, water heating, window performance ratings, etc.) to comply with the Title 24 energy code in a cost effective manner. We would then generate a certified Title 24 report for you, which you would add to your plans and submit to the building department.

Why should you choose us as your Title 24 consultant?

We are a certified Title 24 energy consultant and have successfully delivered Title 24 consulting services on hundreds of successfully constructed projects, all across California, in our 8 plus years of being in business.

In many cases we have taken up projects that were in a tough spot and we worked along with the client to help find a suitable solution to their compliance challenges.

We take pride in the excellent reviews that our customers have left us. You can have a look at some of our reviews here.

We charge an all inclusive, cost effective fee and don’t nickel and dime. The fee includes everything including the registration of the Title 24 report. The final certified Title 24 report PDFs that we send to you are also formatted as Arch D or Arch E1 sheets, ready for print or submission to the city.

We also handle future plan check comments or corrections, even if they require a revision to the Title 24 report, without any additional costs.

What does your Title 24 consulting fee include?

Our Title 24 consulting fee is all inclusive, it includes all of the below.

  • A thorough compliance check of your project with the California Title 24 energy code requirements.
  • Recommending cost effective upgrades to your project in order to meet the Title 24 energy code’s compliance requirements
  • Working along with you to finetune upgrades and requirements
  • Generating and Registering your Title 24 report with a HERs provider
  • Delivering your certified Title 24 report in 8×11 sized as well as plan sized PDFs (24×36 or 30×42 sheet sizes) over email which would be ready for submission to the city
  • Delivering a handy summary of the requirements specified in your Title 24 report for your easy understanding and reference
  • Addressing any plan check comments or corrections, if any, regarding your Title 24 report from the building department
  • Always being there – For any questions or help needed on the Title 24 report front – through permit, construction, inspection and finals.

When do you pay the Title 24 consulting fee and what payment methods do we accept?

We generally collect partial or complete payment upfront. You could process the payment when placing the order on our website or we generally send our Zelle details via email as we begin working on the Title 24 report.

We accept payments via Zelle. You can also pay us via an ACH or Wire transfer or by mailing us a Check. In some cases we also accept Card.

What does your Title 24 consulting fee not include?

Plan check corrections and responses are absolutely free.

But if you would like us to make a revision to the Title 24 report due to any design changes, after it has been generated or registered, we generally charge a small revision fee to rerun the Title 24 compliance check and regenerate a new Title 24 report for you. This fee is generally about $75-$125 for most residential projects.

How long would it take to generate a Title 24 report for your project?

We generally complete the Title 24 compliance check in about 1 working day. After the compliance check is complete and you approve the requirement summary that we send to you, we register the Title 24 report and send it over as plan sized sheets.

We are able to deliver a Title 24 report for most single family residences and ADUs in 1 – 2 working days.

Please note: Once the compliance check is complete, we send over a summary of the requirements and we wait till you review them. These are the requirements that your project needs to comply with the Title 24 energy code such as insulation levels, HVAC and water heater types and efficiencies, window performance ratings, etc. Once you give us a go ahead to proceed with the requirements, we register the Title 24 report and send it over asap. But if you would like us to change or finetune any of the requirements, we can do that as well since the code allows for tradeoffs between some of the requirements. If you need changes at this stage, we rework the Title 24 calculations and revert as soon as possible, free of cost, and we can keep doing this till we arrive at an optimum set of building specifications. The end goal is to generate a Title 24 report which requires specifications which are cost effective and are also per your preferences.

Important: The time to generate a Title 24 report you is also dependent on your review and the number of bank and forths we have. Hence its good to leave some buffer time in your timelines so that you get a satisfactory end result in working with us.
