California Title 24 process
Our Step-by-Step Process After You Request a Title 24 Report
When you order a Title 24 report from us, we make the process smooth, transparent, and collaborative. Here’s exactly what happens once you submit your project details.
Step 1: Confirmation Email
Once you submit your project through our Order form or via Email, you’ll receive a confirmation from projects@gettitle24.com or viranchi@gettitle24.com, usually within a few hours. This ensures we’ve received your request and project details.
For first-time clients, we generally require payment at the order form or during this stage to begin work immediately.
Step 2: Compliance Calculations & Modeling
After receiving your request, we begin your Title 24 compliance calculations. immediately.
- For most residential projects, this takes 1–2 business days.
For larger or more complex projects, it may take a little longer.Duct location (attic, crawlspace, garage, conditioned space, etc.)
During this stage, we:
- Create a detailed computer model of your building using California state-certified energy software.
- Run multiple simulations to test different upgrade combinations.
- Identify the most cost-effective and practical path to compliance.
Because most projects don’t comply “as-is,” these simulations are essential to balance costs, feasibility, and performance.
Step 3: Draft Specifications
Once modeling is complete, we send you draft specifications and a draft report by email. These include:
- Required insulation values
- Window performance ratings
- HVAC and water heater efficiency levels
- Any additional HERS measures
This draft serves as a clear summary of your Title 24 report, giving you a straightforward view of what specifications must be followed during construction to comply with California’s energy code.
Step 4: Your Review & Adjustments
We encourage you to review the draft specifications carefully and share your feedback. Since the energy code allows tradeoffs, this is where you can influence design decisions.
Examples of tradeoffs include:
- Selecting a high-efficiency water heater instead of upgrading roof insulation
- Installing a whole house fan to reduce window performance requirements
- Using a ductless mini-split system with additional credits to eliminate QII verification
Our role is to work with you to adjust these specifications within code requirements, ensuring compliance in the most practical and cost-effective way possible.
Step 5: Final Report & Registration
Once you approve the draft, we register the final Title 24 report.
- We sign off as the Documentation Author (Certified Energy Analyst).
- The Responsible Party (architect, builder, designer, or homeowner-builder) receives an automated sign-off email from Cheers.org.
- The Responsible Party simply clicks “Sign” in that email to complete registration.
Step 6: Delivery of Final Documents
After the Responsible Party signs off, we prepare your final deliverables and send them to you by email. These include:
- Registered Title 24 report PDFs (both 8×11 and plan-size sheets such as 24×36 or 30×42 or similar)
- Certified and watermarked documents ready for submission to the city
- A summary sheet to help align your project plans with Title 24 requirements
Simply add the PDFs to your plan set and update your sheet index before city submission.
